Games of my childhood #6 of 7
This was the title that taught me a game could be more than it’s mechanics. A game could be a story. I could sing the praises of the Oddworld games forever, as anyone who knows me will attest to. Abe’s Oddysee was a game that had you platforming and rescuing fellow Mudokon slaves from the clutches of Rupture Farms CEO, the evil Mullock the Glukkon. Often hilarious, sometimes terrifying and always mercilessly challenging, Abe’s Oddysee and it’s sequel Abe’s Exoddus remain two of the finest examples of all-round brilliant game design. I’m so excited for the high definition remakes which are coming soon. I can’t wait to see the new cinematics, and I hope they stay true to these originals, which I think have aged incredibly well.
